Welcome

Hello, Welcome to my blog. This is a place I will put my thoughts, information regarding my journey.

I have been type 2 diabetic since age 36 and I am now 44 years old.  I have tried all sorts of medicine prescribed by my physician and none of them really controlled my blood sugar with my HGA1C creeping all the way up to 10.2.

I have decided to take control of myself.  I am not on any medication. My last HGA1C was 7.3, much improved and that was back Nov 2019. I have not been back to my doctor, though I need to go every six months, with COVID 19 I missed my 6 mo appt and then after a fall off the wagon and binge for about a month, I decided I would go back in Nov 2020 for a yearly check-up to see where I am, as I know that binge month I had through my numbers back up and it was more or less related to COVID, and I didn't want the doctor to put me back on medication because of a slight detour I had taken.  So I will go back again in Nov to have it reached, and since mid-June, I have been on my game hard.  :) So I should be fine to come in November!

I follow a Ketogenic type diet as this has proven to be the most successful in helping me with my blood sugar.

I started my weight at 184 in Jan 2020 and I am not at 172 in July 2020. I know it isn't much weight loss, but I lost and fluctuated back up and now I am on my way back down again.

I have a goal of 150 lbs for now and then will re-evaluate.  With the longtime goal management of my diabetes of course!

I get 10k or more steps in each and every day, that is a goal of mine as well, it guarantees some movement.  I have a desk job, that sometimes consumes, and since working from him I would find myself with less than 1,000 steps by 4:30p each day... just sitting and working, and the steps challenge I do for myself gets me up and moving all day. I go for a walk at 9a, lunch break, 2p, and 4p every workday.  And I make myself enjoy the outdoors as much as possible and of course, continue on the step challenge on the weekends. This does much for my mental health and body.

I am now trying to focus more on a workout regimen to include strength, cardio, endurance, and agility.  I am slacking with any sort of structure in the form of workouts... I get some here and there but not consistently.  My goal is to work out at 6am before getting my workday started at 7a this way that part is out of the way, then I just have to get my steps in, and if I feel up to a second workout in the afternoon at 4-5p then I want to be accustomed to that as well.  :) I am always a work in progress, I used to blog about things regularly and have decided I would like to get back to that for the remainder of my journey.

I also have something special up my sleeve, I am study and learning every day toward a new goal... this one I am not ready for the world to know yet... but it's going to be BIG!!! :)

Beginning weight of 188 lbs in 2013 which is when I really began a fitness change in my life at age 35.  I lost 20 lbs that first year... and that was sure FAT loss.  I have gained lots and lots of muscle, as I have done many races (Half Marathons, triathlons, 5ks)... and I have done some CrossFit.  So saying I weigh 172 now doesn't seem like me, but I am much more fit than I used to be. But, yes still have plenty of fat to lose too :)
As I stated, my sugar control is #1 to anything. But I would like to have a strong healthy body, that is capable of anything as I am aging and getting stiffer and feeling the effects of age on the body, and I want that to improve.

I want to encourage others on their journey as well.  So I am putting myself out there.

I post daily on Instagram and Facebook as well.  Those post usually consists of what food I have eaten lol so if you don't like that sort of thing, there is you a heads up.... :) But I do show how it isn't hard to eat with the ketogenic lifestyle, its just mind over matter.

I will use this blog to post my workouts daily, a brief description of my meals, and maybe one day will have some of my favorite recipes.  I am sure I will have ups and downs and will share those more personally here.

Welcome, and please be sure to comment and let me know about yourself. I do hope to meet like minded individuals on the journey to health and fitness.
